Capacity Building

Capacity building gives villagers the knowledge and means to create sustainable livelihoods and develop the village on their own. Trainings, orientations and workshops are a vital component of Jeevika’s activities. Depending on the needs and requirement of the villagers Jeevika provides in depth training to occupation- and activity-specific groups as well general training workshops on Jeevika’s core activities to build village-wide understanding of the project.

From April 2003 to February 2004, 11,219 households were provided with capacity building activities through Jeevika. The breadth of training activities is extensive: intensive orientations to JSM members; midwife training; agriculture and animal husbandry best practice training; women’s health training; exposure visits to successful projects; functional literacy education; and microfinance training, etc.
